What We Are All About
FriendZi’s is character-based program for K thru 6th grade that meets the NJ standards for Social Emotional Learning (SEL) in schools. It is a fun, non-conventional approach to learning where students are presented with the opportunity to learn about emotions through various activities including game play (“Caps with FriendZi’s), story-telling, story-writing, charades, trivia, individual and group work, yoga meditation and visualization. Key concepts including “Intentional decision making” and “Impulsive decision making” are explained and incorporated throughout the activities to help students recognize that they are in control of how they respond to their environment.
There are 7 Impulsive and 7 Intentional characters that make up the FriendZi’s crew. Children can identify with and ultimately learn from these characters based on the circumstances we put the characters through in the stories.
The ultimate goal is to create a safe and fun environment where kids learn how to better manage the ups and downs of life that will undoubtedly occur. We hope to help kids recognize the role that they play in their happiness and the happiness of others around them.

What We Do
Deliver a system that is intentional, equitable, and focused on outcomes.

Playful, Character-Based SEL
FriendZi's translates abstract SEL concepts into relatable characters, making learning engaging and developmentally appropriate.

Cross-Curricular Integration
Embedding SEL in academic tasks supports transfer to performance, collaboration, and conflict resolution.

Shared Vocabulary
Character-based language normalizes emotions and gives students and teachers a shared framework for dialogue.

Equity-Oriented Adaptation
Culturally responsive and trauma-informed adjustments ensure FriendZi's benefits diverse learners equitably.

Collaborative Rollout
Effective implementation relies on collaboration, with scaling requiring clear fidelity markers.

Policy and Research
Sustainable adoption needs teacher training, policy support, and longitudinal research on long-term outcomes.
We Focus On Functionality
FriendZi’s is a non‑digital, year‑long SEL curriculum using paired characters (Impulsive ↔ Intentional tendencies) embedded in the L.E.A.R.N. framework. A symbolic chakra‑informed scaffold provides memorable anchors for safety, repair, courage, and voice.

What Students Say
Feedback from students who have used the FriendZi’s program…
Fearful Fox is scared of stuff, but he learns how to calm down. That's like me when I get nervous.

Student #1
I liked how we could make up our own characters...I would like to make a playful porcupine.

Student #2
There was a fight on the bus...I chose to be intentional, not impulsive.
